UTSpeaks - Getting About Green

3 Apr 2008 - 6:00pm
3 Apr 2008 - 8:00pm

What will life be like in Sydney after the oil age?

Rising fuel prices, diminishing oil, demands to cut greenhouse emissions and endless new tolls to travel on congested roads. What future do we face as a society that's addicted to cars?

Featuring three expert presenters, this public lecture examines the urgent issues facing Sydney's drivers and struggling traffic infrastructure providers. With peak oil upon us, can new technologies and biofuels safeguard the family car? Is an effective public transport system possible anytime soon and what shape will our cities take on as freeways strain to keep this big city moving?
