I finally encounter a CBD Metro supporter
This morning I handed out EcoTransit News at Wolli Creek Station. I was by myself (the station has only one entrance) and I got rid of 350 papers between 7.10 and 8.50. For the very first time I encountered a Metro supporter. A sleek young bloke in a suit who refused a paper muttered "The Metro's alright" as he hurried in. Probably an ALP staffer.
A young lady cyclist stopped for a chat. She told me that with the new timetable her trip to work would take a full 10 minutes longer. She wanted to know who we were and whether we could be joined.
A trade unionist also stopped to talk. He reminded me that the NSW ALP conference was on at the Entertainment Centre on 14 and 15 November and suggested we go along to lobby members as they were going in. Excellent idea mate! Take it as done!
When I got home I opened the Sydney Morning Herald and found Andrew West's article 'Rees rejects light rail through city':

It seems Clover Moore has quite rightly lost patience with Nathan Rees and Transport Minister Campbell over their little games with the light rail study. After telling Clover and the mayors of Leichhardt, Ashfield and Marrickville that they'd be represented on a steering committee to guide the light rail extension study they were paying most of the money for, Rees and Campbell dudded them by issuing the Terms of Reference for the study and advertising for a consultant without consulting the Steering Committee over the ToR or the consultant's brief. So what, exactly, does the Steering Committee steer? Talk about double dealing.
