Queensland's Transport Department is quite proactive in terms of ecologically sustainable transport - see the relevant section of their website by clicking on the link.

NSW Department of Transport
The annual report of the NSW Ministry of Transport describes the Ministry of Transport as "...the lead agency of the transport portfolio, providing a strategic focal point for integrated transport planning and service delivery". Not while the RTA has independent planning and approval powers...keep this in mind.

RTA
The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) was established on 16 January 1989, under the Transport Administration Act 1988 through an amalgamation of the former Department of Main Roads, Department of Motor Transport and the Traffic Authority.

Transport WA
Crikey! Couldn't find a reference to a WA department of transport because they don't have one. They have something better - a department of planning and infrastructure that takes transport under its wing! Go and marvel at the great attitude of someone else's Labor Government...Like Queensland, WA has some idea about ecologically sustainable transport.
