What is going on with long-distance passenger services in NSW?

It doesn't sound all that bad, but mobility is one of the key factors in mental health, physical health, as well as social and economic wealth.

It would seem that the t-card is dead, but the impetus towards a distance based, per kilometre, fare hijack appears to be alive and well.

The argument is that the T-card is new paint on a uniquely complex and out-dated fares system. Every other major city works on a much simpler system of zones and time-based tickets.
